Found Poetry Project

My words were: tradition, runners, pasta, tea, shame, sobriety
I got this from an article from people magazine. Apparently, Katie Cruise was preparing to run a marathon, but before it, instead of only training and eating pasta, she was throwing a tea party for baby Suri.

My Thanksgiving tradition
Racing, running, competing
All before dinner
Weeks of only pasta
Such a shame I can't feast just yet
Racing post biggest bar night of the year
Keeps me sober
No wine, sangrias, draft beer
maybe tea

To answer your question, my found poem was from an article about some students who got in trouble at the University of Illinois for dressing up as the characters from "Cool Runnings". It was a really interesting article...it brought up the whole issue of race and stereotyping on Halloween, which I'm not sure I agree with but it was a well-written article, regardless.

P.S. Love the 80s picture of you and your sister- my mom used to do that to me too!

I really like how you took the simple words and put them together into a poem that was completely your own and about something that was completely your own.
